Our work with\nthe communities of Beb El Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen through the Beb El Dahab rehabilitation\nand reintegration program has been an important pillar of our other initiatives.\nMARCH realized that providing the youth with a holistic set of marketable skills\nwould enable them to access better opportunities and shift the trajectory of\ntheir lives for the better. Furthermore, we realized that creating spaces that\nwould allow for positive and constructive dialogue would help bridge the\nexiting social gaps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore,\nMARCH decided to recreate the Beb El Dahab experience in Beirut by bringing\ntogether marginalized youth from Chiah, Madina Riyadia and Tariq Al Jadida.\nTogether they would help renovate the Regional Center of Beirut\u2019s Civil Defense\nDepartment in Cola. Over the duration of six weeks, the team gave the facility\na complete makeover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected\ngroup was given extensive on-the-job technical and vocational training in\nconstruction and graphic design. The young men explored numerous trades such as\nplastering, electrical work and plumbing which helped them refurbish the center\u2019s\ninfrastructure. The women on the other hand were given the tools to conceptualize\nand develop the center\u2019s new look. Additionally, the afternoons were dedicated\nto interactive and intensive language and mathematics classes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
